The City of Kirtland administers a variety of facilities and recreation programs for Kirtland residents through the Recreation Department, which operates out of the Kirtland Community Center. The Community Center is located in the former Gildersleeve Elementary School at 7900 Euclid-Chardon Road. The City of Kirtland renovated the building in 1998 for community activities and continues to make improvements each year. In addition to the indoor facilities, there are two baseball diamonds, a soccer field, two bocce ball courts and a pavilion with grills, picnic tables and a fireplace out back.

Kirtland Recreation Park is located behind the Kirtland schools campus on Chillicothe Road and is owned and run by the City of Kirtland. The park consists of five baseball/softball diamonds, a soccer field, a football field and a pavilion. Leagues are required to get a permit for use of these fields. Permit information can be obtained by calling the Public Works Department at 256-1234.

Kirtland Youth Sports leagues are run by boards independent of the City. Baseball, softball, basketball, football, cheerleading and soccer are all offered. The City of Kirtland is responsible for the operation of the fields at Recreation Park and the Community Center. The City maintains the fields and makes improvements to these facilities so that playing quality is sufficient.
