Apparatus and Facilities

The Kirtland Fire Department currently has ten vehicles in its fleet. The newest vehicles are a 2005 Horton Rescue Squad and a 2005 Ford Expedition. The oldest vehicle is a 1967 Dodge Power Wagon. Thanks to the passage of Issue 7, a fire levy renewal, we look forward to purchasing a new rescue squad for Fire Station One.

Station One, located at 8979 Kirtland-Chardon Road, was built on Holden Arboretum property in 1993. It houses one fire engine, one chase vehicle, one rescue squad and is home to the "Gator" a Rescue ATV and its trailer. The "Gator" was donated by a former Kirtland resident.

Station Two, located at 10282 Chillicothe Road, was built in 1955. In 1978, the station was renovated and an addition was completed. It houses two fire engines, two rescue squads, a technical rescue vehicle, and our Grass Unit, a 1967 Dodge Power Wagon. Station Two is also home to the Lake County Command Van.

Thanks to the dedicated and hard working employees at the fire department we have received many grants. In 2008, a $72,000 Health and Wellness Grant allowed for renovations to both stations to accommodate two new fitness rooms with state of the art, club quality fitness equipment.
