Mayor Mark A. Tyler
Mayor Mark Tyler is proud to call the “City of Faith and Beauty” home! He and his wife, Sandy, have been residents of Kirtland for almost 20 years. They value Kirtland’s natural beauty, strong sense of community, and the abounding area amenities that make Kirtland unique.
Mark is actively involved within the community. He is a member of the Kiwanis Club of Kirtland, of which he is a Distinguished Past-President (1999-2000), a member of the Willoughby Area Rotary Club and is a graduate of Leadership Lake County -- Class of 2005. In 2000, Mark was appointed by Kirtland City Council to serve on the Kirtland City Charter Review Committee. He then served on the Planning Advisory Committee for the Kirtland Comprehensive Plan 2010.
His community involvement inspired him to run for Kirtland City Council in 2001. Shortly after being elected as Councilman-at-Large, Mark completed the Newly Elected Officials Training Program at the Cleveland State University College of Urban Affairs and also attended the Ohio Municipal League Leadership Training Academy. He is a member of the National Association of Parliamentarians.
Mark served two terms as Councilman before being elected Mayor for the City of Kirtland in 2007. In addition to his Mayoral duties, Mark also serves as the Safety Director and Service Director for the City of Kirtland.
As Mayor, he is a member of the Lake County Mayors & City Managers Association and the Northeast Ohio Mayors & City Managers Association. Mayor Tyler also served as a governing board member for the Northeast Ohio Area Coordinating Agency (NOACA) from 2009-2012.
